Idea Exchange: Safety Training
One of the primary contributing factors to construction incidents is inadequate training. In an effort to take the next step in eliminating jobsite injuries, the Coalition for Construction Safety (CCS) is launching a Training Verification Program in January 2018. The program will assist owners and contractors in tracking worker training by providing an online training database that can be accessed anywhere by using any smart phone, tablet or laptop.
In order to ensure the program meets the needs of its members, CCS wants to hear from safety directors. This forum will be an idea exchange where key topics will be addressed surrounding safety training. By collaborating and sharing ideas, everyone is improving at the same time which then allows us to continue to work toward eliminating job site injuries and illnesses. The idea exchange will also allow CCS to potentially develop additional resources to benefit its members.
Heather Martin, CCS Program Director, will moderate the discussion. She will also share details about the new training verification program and how it will reduce risk for construction end users by providing the ability to verify worker training prior to starting a task. Martin will also highlight how the program can serve as a management tool for contractors to track the various training of every employee and receive notifications when training is about to expire.
The CCS Safety Directors’ Forum is a great way to network and share ideas with your peers in the construction and facilities maintenance industry. The forum is open to anyone with an interest in the topic. Everyone is welcome so please join CCS at the CCS Office Conference Center, 8909 Purdue Rd., Suite 140, on August 23rd at 8:00 a.m. for this FREE event.
