SUMMARY:Reasonable Suspicion for Supervisors
DESCRIPTION:Get Caught up on Your DOT Required Supervisor Training \nHow do you know if an employee is under the influence of alcohol or drugs? Join CCS on June 9th for Reasonable Suspicion Training to gain the knowledge and confidence needed to make reasonable suspicion determinations. 49 CFR Part 40 requires that all DOT supervisors and company officials overseeing employees receive training to determine whether an employee should undergo a reasonable suspicion alcohol/drug test. Fulfill the DOT requirement by registering for this live training that will provide participants the opportunity to interact and ask questions. \nThe Reasonable Suspicion Training will be held virtually on Wednesday\, June 9 from Noon – 2:00 p.m. EDT. DESCRIPTION:As we all know\, the Covid pandemic has created many challenges that employers are now facing. One of these challenges is a decline in the mental health of our workforce. To help us better understand this obstacle and learn successful ways to navigate through it\, the Coalition for Construction Safety (CCS) and the Central Indiana American Society of Safety Professionals (CI-ASSP) will be hosting a joint event on Wednesday\, September 22 at the CCS office from 8:00 – 9:30am. \nDuring this event\, Jennifer Pferrer (Executive Director – Wellness Council of Indiana) will review current mental health trends in Indiana\, explain how stigma related to mental health can be damaging\, and present different ways employers can provide much needed support. Following this presentation\, a representative from Lippert and Steinberger Construction will join Jennifer to participate in a panel discussion. \nThis event will be held in person with a limit of 50 people. Indiana is now surrounded by states that have legalized the use of marijuana and Indiana passed approval for the sale of CBD oils and creams over two years ago. How does this impact employers of CDL holders and the driver themselves? What happens if a CDL holder tests positive\, even if not under the influence at the time of testing? How does impact employers with high function safety sensitive employees? \nCynthia Able has been in the drug and alcohol industry for 15 plus years. She specializes in compliance program management and policy review. Cynthia Able is also a certified MROA.
