This 3-hour training equips supervisors and safety professionals with the knowledge and confidence needed to make reasonable suspicion determinations in the workplace. The course focuses on recognizing signs of substance abuse, documenting observations, and following proper procedures for referral and testing. It is designed to support compliance with company policies and federal regulations regarding workplace substance use.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify signs and symptoms of alcohol and drug abuse
  • Establish reasonable suspicion based on observable behaviors
  • Understand how to refer an employee for drug and alcohol testing
  • Follow proper documentation procedures
  • Know the consequences of failing a drug or alcohol test

Instructor

Mike Addison, Indiana Testing, Inc.

Mike is a Senior Safety Consultant with Indiana Testing Inc. (ITI) and has over 36 years of experience in law enforcement and transportation safety. Before joining ITI, he served with the Indiana State Police, specializing in commercial vehicle enforcement and hazardous materials compliance. At ITI, Mike focuses on DOT compliance, safety programs, and regulatory training to help companies meet federal standards and maintain safe operations.
