Session 1: Lessons Learned & SIF Prevention—Stories that Save Lives

Date: February 4, 2026
Time: 8:00am-10:00am
Location: TBD (Indianapolis)

This session invites members to bring a story about an incident, near miss, or improvement that moved the needle—what happened, what you changed, and what others can borrow. Bruce Guiliani, retired Safety Professional, will set the stage with current Serious Injuries and Fatalities (SIF) trends, common precursors, and consider energy based risk exposure, then moderate a roundtable where attendees share experiences and proven countermeasures.

Expect honest conversation, practical takeaways, and templates to help your teams capture and circulate lessons learned more effectively.

Learning outcomes:

  • Recognize typical SIF precursors and how they surface in daily work planning.
  • Apply a consistent, blameless “lessons learned” format that accelerates adoption.
  • Discuss risk analysis of high energy exposures such as electrical, mechanical, potential, etc. during routine jobs.

The CCS Safety Series will be in-person at (location TBD) from 8:00am-10:00am on February 4, June 24, and November 11.

Each attendee that completes a speaker evaluation and answers the comprehension questions will receive .2 CEU for each safety session of the series for a total of .6 CEUs for the entire series. Safety Resources is our authorized IACET CEU provider.

The cost per session as a member is $99 and as a nonmember is $125. Register for the first session of the CCS Safety Series today!
